LIEUTEN ANT
JOSEPH SCARLETT
Lieutenant Joseph Scarlett has been a law enforcement officer for 22 years.
Lieutenant Scarlett was inspired to become a law enforcement officer by
his father who served as a Richmond County Deputy Sheriff in the early
DIVISION 70’s. Lieutenant Scarlett started his law enforcement career with the
Richmond County Sheriff’s Office where he worked in the Field Services
Division, Special Operations, Criminal Investigations, and the Civil/
Fugitive Division. From 2007-2009, Lt. Scarlett traveled to Afghanistan
and worked as a mentor and training officer to the Afghan National Police and Border Patrol.
Lieutenant Scarlett returned to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office in 2010 where he
became an FBI certified Bomb Technician and also served on the SWAT team. Lieutenant
Scarlett has been serving with the Richmond County Marshal’s Office since March of 2018.
Lieutenant Scarlett is currently assigned to the Administrative Services Division where his
responsibilities include: Training Supervisor, Internal Affairs and Community Services.
