MESSAGE FROM THE
Mayor
On behalf of the Office of the Mayor and the Augusta Commission, I am proud
to present the 2025 Augusta, Georgia Government Annual Report, titled
“Evolving Augusta.”
This year’s report reflects a city shaped by resilience, strengthened by
recovery, and positioned for growth. In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene,
Augusta demonstrated what it means to work together. Through coordinated
response, responsible financial stewardship, and the dedication of our
employees and community partners, we secured more than $42.8 million in
reimbursements while continuing to deliver essential services.
Beyond recovery, we made strategic investments in infrastructure, housing,
public safety, parks, and economic development. From major sewer expansion
in South Augusta to new housing and workforce
partnerships, this progress reflects growth
across every corner of Richmond County.
I extend my sincere appreciation to our
Administrator, department directors,
employees, community partners, and
volunteers whose leadership and
dedication keep Augusta moving
forward. As we approach our
30th year, we remain
focused on strengthening
our foundation,
expanding opportunity,
and building a future worthy
of the next generation.
Sincerely,
Garnett L. Johnson,
Mayor of Augusta Georgia
