Tax Assessor
The Tax Assessor’s Office ensured fair and uniform property valuation
across Augusta in 2025, supporting equity in the tax base and compliance
with Georgia law.
The department successfully met state standards through annual reviews
conducted by the Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts and the
Georgia Department of Revenue, confirming accuracy, uniformity, and
adherence to appraisal best practices.
Through its annual revaluation program, the office assessed more than
83,000 real estate parcels and nearly 14,000 personal property accounts,
ensuring property values reflect current market conditions. These efforts
contributed to measurable growth in Augusta’s tax digest while
maintaining transparency for property owners.
The department also played a critical role in community engagement,
assisting residents with understanding reassessments, exemptions, and
legislative changes, while supporting Augusta EMA with post-Hurricane
Helene damage assessments.
Through ongoing public outreach and interdepartmental coordination, the
Tax Assessor’s Office continues to strengthen public trust and financial
transparency across Augusta.
Economic Development Authority
In 2025, the Augusta Economic Development Authority advanced strategic
efforts to strengthen Augusta’s economic competitiveness and attract new
investment.
A key milestone included securing a $500,000 award from the Georgia
Department of Community Affairs to support shovel-ready site
development at Augusta Regional Airport.
This investment, matched with airport funding, enhances infrastructure
readiness and positions Augusta to better compete for business
recruitment opportunities.
By improving site availability and development timelines, the Authority
continues to support job creation, private investment, and long-term
economic growth across Augusta, Georgia.
