BUILDING
SECURITY
The Marshal’s Office Building Security Division provides security and public safety
services in city owned and operated buildings across Augusta-Richmond County.
The officers of the Building Security Division are trained to adapt to the unique
challenges associated with keeping a large number of employees and visitors safe in
consolidated campuses and multi-story facilities. Our officers are focused on protecting
people and property, maintaining order and preventing and responding to threats.
Some officers are assigned to stationary positions from which they may monitor alarms,
surveillance cameras, or screening equipment, while others may be assigned patrol
areas where they conduct a variety of security checks. The Marshal’s Office works closely
with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, and shares duties with them at the Augusta
Judicial Center. They also work closely with the Richmond County Fire Department
and ambulance services to ensure the most effective response plans available.
