CAPTAIN
STEVEN DOUGLAS
Captain Steven Douglas is a U.S. Army veteran and former Combat Medic who served in multiple deployments
throughout the 1990s. He and his wife are busy raising their twelve children and are passionate about promoting
fostering to adopt children in need. Capt. Douglas holds a degree in Education from Ashford University and has
completed the Department of Homeland Security’s Physical Security Training Program.
Captain Douglas began his law enforcement career in 2000 with the Augusta
University (Medical College of Georgia) Police Department. In 2003, he transitioned
to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, where he served in various roles, including
Bike Patrol, Road Patrol, Special Operations/Housing Unit, Violent Crimes
Investigator, and Road Patrol Supervisor. He was also a Senior Hazardous Devices
Technician with the Richmond County Bomb Squad.
In 2011, Captain Douglas joined the Richmond County Marshal’s Office and currently
serves as the Commander of the Building and Courtroom Security Division, where
he oversees critical security operations to ensure the safety of government facilities
and personnel. Additionally, he is a Licensed Chaplain with the Marshal’s Office
and enjoys serving our employees and the community in that role as well.
