CAPTAIN
MATT TINDELL
Captain Matt Tindell, a native of Augusta, Georgia, has dedicated 19 years of service to Augusta-Richmond County.
He began his law enforcement career with the Florida Department of Corrections, where he served as a correctional
officer for two years and was an active member of the Rapid Response Team.

In June 2007, Captain Tindell joined the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, achieving
the rank of Sergeant. While there, he led the jail security program, administered the
jail officer training program, and served on the VIP/Dignitary Protection Team. In
January 2017, he brought his experience and leadership to the Richmond County
Marshal’s Office, where he currently serves as the Division Commander of the
Augusta Regional Airport.

Captain Tindell is a Georgia POST Certified Instructor and a certified Airport
Security Coordinator. He plays a vital role in the Airport Security Program and has
completed specialized training, including the Physical Security Training Program
at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. Captain Tindell values this office’s
initiative to keep all passengers, visitors, and employee’s safe while traveling in
and out of the Augusta Regional Airport.
