ABBY
The 6½ year old black lab began work at the airport on Monday, March 25th,
2018. Abby is a certified explosives detection K-9, certified by the International
Police Working Dog Association.
In keeping with her purpose of keeping travelers and visitors of the Augusta
Regional Airport safe, Abby was named after the Roman goddess Abeona, also
known as the goddess of outward journeys. One of Abeona’s roles was to watch
over travelers on their outward journeys.
Abby and her handler are assigned to the airport where they work daily to
ensure the safety of the facility and its visitors.
